The Voice season 11 premiered last night with the Blind Auditions and three artists chose Blake Shelton as their coach on the hit NBC show.
It was made very obvious right away that rookie coaches Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys are going to be serious competition for veteran coaches Blake and Adam Levine. These ladies have the skills, competitive spirit and personalities to be a serious threat for the win on The Voice.
However, Blake was able to end the first night of Blind Auditions with two artists from Texas and another one from Louisiana on #TeamBlake. Below are their Blind Auditions.
Houston, TX native Sundance Head put a southern-rock feel to the Otis Reading classic “I’ve Been Loving you Too Long.” The performance was enough to get both Blake and Adam to hit their buttons. In the end Sundance chose Blake.
Dana Harper is a Dallas, Texas native and daughter of former NBA star Derek Harper. She took a risk singing the song “Jealous” by Nick Jonas. However, her female voice on the originally male song motivated Blake and Alicia to hit their buttons with Adam pressing his in the last second. While I was pretty sure she would go with Alicia, Dana chose to walk an unexpected path by choosing to join #TeamBlake.
Gabe Broussard is a 15-year-old who calls Fafayette, LA home. This young singer chose the song “Lonely Night In Georgia” by Marc Broussard (no relation). The voice that sounded to have experience beyond its years was rewarded with a button press from both Blake and Miley. While Gabe’s mom guessed he would pick Miley, her son chose Blake as his coach.
Alicia also won over three artists for her team. Miley was able to score two artists with Adam ending the night with a single artist choosing him as a coach. See what artists are on those three teams at The Voice website here.
The Blind Auditions continue tonight on season 11 of The Voice starting at 7 PM central time (8 PM eastern time) on NBC. Below is a leaked Blind Audition from tonight’s episode of The Voice. The artist is former child-country star Billy Gilman all grown up! Does anybody hit a button for him? Find out by watching the video.
