Tucker Beathard announced a fall headlining tour that will hit college towns and starts just down the road at the University of Illinois.
Tucker was part of the Hank Williams Jr. concert here in Bloomington-Normal at the Corn Crib over the summer. His debut single “Rock On” has climbed to the top 10 on the country radio airplay charts, and is still climbing. Tucker has also been out on the road with Dierks Benltey as an opening act among others in recent years.
Apparently Tucker has decided it is time for him to step out a little on his own, and being from a family with a history steeped in football, what better way to do that for him than in some of the biggest college football towns in the country with shows in the “Big Ten Conference” cities. Tucker’s brother is the star quarterback for the Iowa Hawkeyes and led them to a 2015 regular-season record pf 12-0 and the Big Ten West Division title last year according to ESPN. C.J. will return this year with the Hawkeyes and as a result is helping make Iowa the favorites to repeat for the title again this year.
“If I learned anything from growing up on a field surrounded by coaches and athletes, it’s that you have to keep your head down and keep practicing,” Tucker explains as he compares competitive sports to touring, “Two hundred shows later, and I think we are ready to go tackle our first club tour.”
Tucker will do that as he is set to play nine Big 10 towns on his “Rock On College Tour” this October and November. He will bring new country female artist Aubrie Sellers along for the fun to open the concerts. Aubrie is the daughter of singer-songwriter Jason Sellers and ACM, CMA and Grammy winning singer-songwriter Lee Ann Womack. Tucker says that he and Aubrie have become good friends this year and that she, “doesn’t sound like anyone else out there, and her band is ridiculously good.”
Tucker is excited to play these concerts this fall with, “There’s no place better than a college town in the fall…I’m really excited to get started!”
The University of Illinois will be the first stop in the “Big Ten Conference” for the tour at The City Center Thursday, October 13th. The concert is a “19 and over” event with tickets set at $10. Get your tickets for the concert by clicking here.
