Last night (3/28) the Knockout Rounds began on season 10 of The Voice. What did Blake Shelton do on Team Blake?

The remaining artists on all the teams need to make it through just one more performance victoriously to advance to the live shows on The Voice. In this round they artists get a chance to show their coaches and viewers who they want to be by picking their own song to sing.

If you want to know what happened on the teams coached by Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams, click here. I will highlight what took place on Team Blake here.

Blake Shelton paired his two stolen artists from the Battle Round, Katie Basden and Lacy Mandingo for his first Knockout Rounds competition.

Katie chose to put her own touch to the Fleetwood Mac hit song “Gypsy.” While she may have channeled Stevie Nicks to some degree, she definitely put her own spin on the classic song.

Lacy decided to show her alt-rock style by performing the song “Zombie” by The Cranberries. She does a good job with the song, but in my opinion it didn’t really give her the chance to spotlight her vocal abilities.

Apparently Blake either agreed with my assessment or heard something else in the two performances, but he chose to advance Katie to the live shows choosing her as the winner of the Knockout Round pairing.

However, Pharrell Williams must have felt like Lacy had more to offer than that song gave her the chance to showcase because he hit his button to use his Steal. Last minute Adam Levine also pressed his button for a Steal which left Lacy with the choice of which team to join for the live shows. Ultimately she decided to advance with Pharrell.

For his second Knockout of the night Blake paired Angie Keilhauer with Paxton Ingram.

Angie decided to perform Sam Hunt‘s song “Take Your Time.” This was a difficult song to show off vocal ability singing. Sam’s style has a lot of talking in his performance. While Angie was able to add more singing in her version of the song and did a good job with it, she wasn’t really able to showcase her vocal ability during the performance.

Paxton also chose a difficult song with Adele’s “Hometown Glory.” However, Paxton was able to show his range and some of his vocal ability throughout the song.

In the end Blake made what I thought was the obvious choice based on these two performances and advanced Paxton to the live shows on Team Blake.

The Knockout Rounds continue tonight at 7 PM CT/8 PM ET on season 10 of The Voice on NBC TV.
