Jake Owen has purchased a new bus to use to connect with fans. However, it is not of the sort you would think of when you think of a country music star and a bus.

Jake shared his idea and purchase in a live video feed yesterday (2/29) on his Facebook page. In the video that you can watch below Jake explains that he bought a 1966 Volkswagen (VW) bus. “I had this exciting idea to spread love as much as I can, spread positivity,” he explains, adding, “Which all of ya’ll out there know over the years that I like to spontaneously interact with my fans and friends out there on the road.”

His plan is to drive it from Nashville to Key West, Florida starting Saturday (3/5). Why do it in a VW bus? “I’ve always been obsessed with Volkswagen busses,” Jake reveals. “I love the freedom of them, I love the idea. I wish I could transport back to the ’60s and ’70s and take a cross-country road trip.”

Jake has officially named his new ride “Jake’s Love Bus” and has created both an Instagram and a Twitter account for it for fans to follow his roadtrip. The trip is to let him connect with fans as they “hang out with me in the bus (and I can) play some new songs for you” while he prepares to send his brand new single “American Country Love Song” to country radio.

This is definitely a very cool, retro idea for promoting his new music by Jake Owen and giving fans a unique way to connect with him.
