Cassadee Pope and Chris Young can say they have done something not many artists can say they have done, performed a concert while in flight miles off the ground.
Southwest Airlines is celebrating 30 years of being in Tennessee. One of the ways they are marking the milestone is with a new Boeing 737-700 that has been painted with an artist’s version of the state’s flag that has been named “Tennessee One.”
The new jet made its maiden voyage yesterday (2/22) with a full passenger list that included Chris and Cassadee for a flight from Nashville to Memphis. Prior to the flight’s departure Southwest posted the picture above to their Twitter account along with the message, “#TennesseeOne is headed to Memphis. Plus, we’ve got Chris and Cassadee performing #LiveAt35 on the way there!”
Chris performed several songs for the Live at 35® concert at 35,000 feet in flight. Cassadee joined Chris for an acoustic performance of their duet “Think Of You” which is also Chris’ current single climbing the charts. You can watch a video of that performance at the bottom of the page.
“You are up 35,000 feet in the air and performing,” Chris told Music Row during the flight, “Not a lot of people get to check that off a bucket list. It’s an experience unlike anything else.”
Cassadee is currently on tour with Chris and was thrilled to be included in this unique opportunity and performance. “I was so excited to be invited,” Music Row quotes her, “There’s always that joke when you carry your guitar on the plane about whether you’re going to play, and today– we finally did!”
