American Idol has begun its final season and Ryan Seacrest was on the Today Show where he named Carrie Underwood as the biggest star the show has ever produced.
FOX announced last year that the 15th season would be the show’s “Farewell Season.” Of course that means there will be a lot of reflection about the past decade plus for the show and the artists that have launched their careers by being on the show.
Yesterday (1/7) as the final season was set to premiere, show host Ryan Seacrest appeared on the television morning show to promote the show.
The hosts of Today asked Ryan many questions including which singer from the show was in his opinion the biggest star to ever emerge from American Idol. Without missing a beat Ryan said, “Carrie Underwood.” Carrie was the winner of season four.
The competition show host also noted that Kelly Clarkson (the season one winner) did very well after the show, but Carrie has that something extra, “I was just on New Year’s with Carrie, and she’s just a superstar. She really is. So, I take Carrie,” Ryan said.
You can watch the Today Show video of the complete interview with Ryan Seacrest above.
Night two of American Idol’s Farewell Season airs tonight on FOX starting at 7 PM central time. Country music star Keith Urban is back as a judge along with Harry Connick Jr. and Jennifer Lopez.
I must say that as a country music fan and professional I also choose Carrie Underwood as the biggest American Idol star.
