Starting this summer you will get that new song or album you want on Friday in the United States instead of Tuesday.
The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) has confirmed that beginning this summer all new music will be released at 12:01am on Fridays.
The IFPI worked with international retailers, record companies, artists and music unions in this initiative according to Music Row.
The move to a global release day for singles and albums is expected to streamline the process for labels and artist to promote the new music around the world. Specifically the use social media to promote the release of the new music will be made simpler with its global reach.
