Season eight of “The Voice” kicked off last night (2/23) with defending four-time winning coach Blake Shelton scoring three artists for Team Blake.

Blake along with Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams all began the blind auditions for season eight by trying to build their teams on “The Voice.” Adam is the only coach other than Blake to have appeared in every season of the hit NBC singing competition. He is also the only coach other than Blake to have multiple wins with two wins in the previous seven seasons.

Christina returns to season eight as one of the original coaches of the show with Pharrell making his second attempt at guiding an artist through to the win.

The night was full of great singing and fun with the coaches attempting to convince the artists to join their teams. I think the quote of the night goes to Blake when Adam failed to get an artist and playfully walked off the set in frustration and Blake yelled at him: “Do you want us to call Usher?”

When the two-hour premiere of the new season was complete Team Xtina had two artists, Team Pharrell and Team Blake had three artists each and team Adam had been shut out.
