I remember the first time I walked through the doors of St. Jude. The year was 1995 and this young fellow was enjoying his life of being newly married and still thinking only of me. I had no idea that on that day my life would be impacted forever.

I was working at a station in Fort Wayne, Indiana as a Program Director. My boss at the time told me that I was to board a plane for Memphis, Tn. There was this gathering called a St. Jude seminar to learn about how to raise money on air for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospitol. It wasn’t what I had in mind, but off we went and the minute the doors opened and I met my first St. Jude patient I was hooked and wanted so badly to help these kids and their families have the chance to live their dream.

The things that St. Jude does for families who are battling cancer and other catastrophic diseases always amaze me. The cure rates have climbed over the years since first being introduced. There are times I wish I could have that first feeling back again, but my goal hasn’t changed. I share the same dream as Danny Thomas that no child should ever die in the dawn of life.
