A couple’s clever wedding favors caused the Denver International Airport to be evacuated because they were little fake bombs.
The first names of the newlyweds both start with “T” so to play off of that they printed “TNT” on small bottles and the date (get it, T and T). They then filled the bottles with white bath salts and sealed the bottles with was that had a fake fuse sticking up.
These were given to the guests at the wedding for them to take home. That was fine other than the guests who were flying home. When the TSA saw the jars on the X-ray monitor they responded appropriately by evacuating the airport for 20 minutes while the “bombs” were inspected.
The TSA posted the picture above on their Instagram page reminding people to “Be mindful of what you’re traveling with and what it might appear as on an X-ray monitor.”
Being a wedding reception DJ I will say this was one of the more clever wedding favors I have seen. However, you can’t really blame the TSA on this, these days it is better to be safe than sorry in situations like this. I will say to any future brides and grooms that may do something in this at their wedding, you might want to warn guests against flying with the favors.
I know if I see them at a wedding I am DJing, I will ask the bride and groom if I can make that announcement for them and explain this story to them as why.
