Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and I have found some random facts about the day that you may find fun . . . or not.
- When it comes to the cost of hosting Thanksgiving, the American Farm Bureau claims that a basic dinner for the holiday for 10 people will cost around $58. However, one poll found that the average host spends more like $170. Yet another poll factored in food, drinks and décor which brought the cost up to $361.
- Restaurants will get business form about 42% of us. That includes people who plan to eat their meal at one as well as those who will order a couple of things to supplement their meals at home.
- 6% of Americans say they’ll almost definitely argue about politics, and another 11% said it’s “somewhat likely.” So, one in six are bracing themselves for that.
- What about white meat versus dark meat? 54% of us prefer white, 31% said dark, and 15% like both equally.
- How much gravy do you use? A poll found 15% of us don’t use any . . . 17% drown their food in it . . . and the remaining 68% say they are somewhere in the middle.
- 56% of people think it’s necessary now to provide options for vegetarians that will be attending their Thanksgiving meal.
- When it comes to alcohol at Thanksgiving, the average man will have 3.1 drinks and the average woman will have 2.4 drinks.
- According to a poll, the top things that we are thankful for this year are family, our health, life in general, our jobs or finances, our faith/religion, our basic needs being met and our friends.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
