A Japanese luxury bath company is set to showcase a human washing machine in 2025.

Asahi Shimbun reports Science Co. has plans to showcase their new invention the “Mirai Ningen Sentakuki” (which literally translates to “human washing machine of the future”) at the Osaka Kansai Expo in April of next year.

The machine looks like a conveyance from a futuristic science fiction movie. What is a little scary is that you get in, it closes and then water and suds are introduced inside.

Not many details have been revealed on how it actually works. However, they say “microscopic bubbles” are used to clean you. A.I. is also used to monitor your visits and adjust to give you a comfortable washing with water temperature that is just right for you. The machine will also dry you off. The whole process is reported to take 15 minutes.

There is no indication of the cost of the unit. However, combine a luxury bath with futuristic tech and you can bet it won’t be something most people can afford.

That’s OK. I prefer my shower to save water by getting clean in just a handful of minutes.
