The 2024 ASCAP Country Music Awards were presented at an invitation-only gathering in Nashville on Monday night (November 18). The awards recognize the songwriters and publishers of country music’s most-performed ASCAP songs of the past year, and Chris Stapleton and Ashley Gorley were the evening’s top winners. Stapleton received the ASCAP Country Music Songwriter/Artist of the Year honor, while Gorley was awarded his 11th ASCAP Country Music Songwriter of the Year honor, which is more than anyone in the 62-year history of the ASCAP Country Music Awards. Gorley was also recognized for co-writing Morgan Wallen’s chart-topping hit, “Last Night,” which was awarded the ASCAP Country Song of the Year. The tune was co-written by JKash and Gorley, and marks Gorley’s fourth ASCAP Country Song of the Year win. Sony Music Publishing, who is behind Shaboozey’s crossover megahit, “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” was named ASCAP Country Music Publisher of the Year for the 11th time. (Billboard)
