Morgan Wallen just broke another record by scoring his fifth #1 song of 2024 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.

Morgan’s song “Lies, Lies, Lies” has reached the top of the chart for country radio airplay. That marks his 15th career #1 on the chart.

Previously in the year he was at the top of the chart with Thomas Rhett on the song “Mamaw’s House,” with Eric Church on the song “Man Made a Bar,” with Post Malone on the song “I Had Some Help” and on his own song “Cowgirls” featuring Ernest.

That makes the fifth time that Morgan has been at the top of the Billboard Country Airplay chart in 2024. That’s a new record according to Billboard. It’s the first time since the cart began in January of 1990 that an artists has been at number one five times in a single year.

The high-mark before this was four #1s in a single year. That had been accomplished by Garth Brooks (1991 & 1993), Luke Combs (2021) and Morgan himself (2022).

Of note, Garth remains the only artist to have notched four #1s as the lead artist in a single year. He did that in both 1991 and 1993. I guess that gives Morgan another record to shoot for.
