Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Toby Keith was announced one month after his death.

As the “Modern Era” inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame, the “American Soldier” vocalist joined John Anderson as the Veterans Era and guitarist James Burton as the recording and/or touring musician.

His daughter, singer Krystal Keith, says his passing did not put him at the top of the Hall of Fame ballots. She told The Oklahoman on Sunday (Oct 20), “It makes a huge difference to us that the voting concluded, and it was already set before he passed away. That makes a huge difference to our family and the way that we look at it.”

Blake Shelton, Eric Church, and Post Malone honored Toby Keith. Church sang “Don’t Let The Old Man In,” Shelton played “I Love This Bar” on a guitar like Keith’s, and Post Malone sang “I’m Just Talkin’ ‘Bout Tonight.” Guests included Keith’s wife, Tricia Covel, their two children, Krystal and Stelen, and Stelen’s wife, Haley.
