After withdrawing from competition in the Tokyo Olympics three years ago, Simone Biles led the US Gymnastic Team back to Gold in the Paris Olympics!
Team USA fell short in Tokyo after Simone withdrew following her first event, the vault. The team was able to claim a Silver medal without her.
Yesterday (7/30), Simone ended the gymnastic team competition with her floor routine. Her score on that event of 14.666 secured the top spot on the platform for herself and teammates Sunisa Lee, Jordan Chiles and Jade Carey.
The team’s final total score of 171.296 bested the silver medal winners (Italy) by almost six points and nearly seven points better than bronze (Brazil). It is the first Olympic Gold Medal for Team USA since 2016.
With the Team Gold Medal, Simone Biles became the most decorated U.S. Olympic Gymnast in history with 5 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal and 2 Bronze Medals.
