Chevrolet just announced that this fall they will be killing off the Malibu. The model is the last traditional four-door sedan the company makes.
The Malibu was a luxury version of the Chevelle when it debuted in 1964 called the Chevelle Malibu. It became its own model as the Malibu in 1978.
Chevrolet still makes Corvettes and the Chevy Bolt electric vehicles. So, they do still make cars, just a limited amount.
Ford also abandoned making traditional sedans when they killed off the Taurus in 2018. The Mustang is Ford’s last remaining traditional car being produced.
The Toyota Camry was the top selling traditional car in the U.S. in 2023. However, it still ranked just #8 on the overall list behind trucks, SUVs and the Tesla Model Y.
Why do you think not a lot of car companies are making “cars” anymore?
