Last week’s CMA Awards garnered most of the country fans’ attention, but many performers value the BMI Awards in Nashville just as much.

The BMI Awards are a “behind-the-scenes” celebration of art for Music Row workers; unlike prime-time TV and red carpets, the musicians and composers perform. 

Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs were selected “Songwriter of the Year” at this year’s awards, and Luke displayed his country songwriting skills again on stage. 

Luke complimented Morgan on his achievement and sang “Thought You Should Know” with Morgan next to him. “By the way, I love this song a lot, man,” Combs told Wallen onstage before starting the song and congratulating him.
