Olympic gold medalist Mary Lou Retton is battling life-threatening pneumonia, according to her family.

Her daughter, McKenna Kelley says the 55-year-old gymnastics great is unable to breathe on her own and is “fighting for her life” in the ICU.

Kelley says her mother in uninsured and has set up a SpotFund account to help pay for her medical bills.

Retton became an American icon during the 1984 Summer Olympics, when she became the first U.S. gymnast to win all-around gold, along with perfect ’10’ scores in the floor and vault.
