Niall Horan won “The Voice” in one coaching season. Blake Shelton, the winningest coach, insists that he helped Horan with the win.

The One Direction star was on season 23, and his team member Gina Miles won on May 23rd. Shelton had a cheeky response for Horan when they embraced.

Horan recalled the winning moment saying, “I gave him [Shelton] a big hug, and he said, ‘I taught you everything you know.’ That’s all he said, not congratulations or anything.”

Shelton is leaving the musical competition after debuting with the series in 2011. Horan says he and Shelton would be friends if he had met him outside the show. “Weirdly enough, we’ve got a lot in common; we’re quite similar people. Though not in dress sense,” laughs Horan.
