Ashley McBryde got an emotional surprise from Garth Brooks on Thursday morning…an official invitation to be the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry!

Ashley was visiting the CBS Mornings studios to promote Lindeville, her new concept album, when suddenly Garth Brooks popped up via satellite in Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry.  

Ashley was confused at first, but as soon as Garth started talking you could tell she knew why he was there.

“I’m here for a proposal,” Garth started, “Miss Ashley McBryde, on behalf of the Opry, and myself as an Opry member — I’m gonna try not to cry — we would love for you to consider becoming the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry.”

Through tears Ashley replied, “Um, it would be the great joy and the great honor of my life. Thank you, Garth. Goodness.” 

The moment was pretty surreal for Ashley, who has worked long and hard to earn the honor, but the surprises weren’t done because suddenly Ashley’s MOM surprised her to celebrate the once in a lifetime moment!
