#BettyWhiteChallenge Urges Fans To Donate To Animals To Honor Betty

Betty White loved to make people laugh, but even stronger was her love for animals.

In fact, Betty is famous for saying “I just like animals better than people, it’s that simple.”

As a way to honor not only her, but her love for animals, #BettyWhiteChallenge has begun trending on social media. 

On what would have been Betty’s 100th birthday January 17th, Fans are asked to donate $5 or more to their local animal shelter. 

Here are some local animal rescues that could really use your donations to help one of Betty’s greatest passions in life, the animals.

In the introduction to her 2011 book “Betty & Friends,” she wrote that both her mother and father “were genuine animal nuts, and I am eternally grateful that they have passed much of that passion on to me.”

Betty was known for her advocacy for animal causes and spent much of her time raising money for animal shelters and animal rights organizations.

She was not only a trustee for the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association, but also supported the  Morris Animal Foundation, “a nonprofit dedicated to advancing veterinary medicine and research” for nearly 40 years..
