Staples Center is getting a new name for Christmas. Say goodbye to the Staples Center, and hello to Crypto.com Arena.
The iconic arena in downtown Los Angeles, which has been home to both the Lakers and Clippers since 1999, will officially be renamed on Christmas Day according to the L.A. Times.
Don’t like the new name, too bad. It will be around for a long time as Crypto.com paid more than $700 million for the naming rights for 20 years, making it one of the biggest naming deals in sports history.
The arena’s new logo will debut Dec. 25, when the Lakers host the Brooklyn Nets, and all of Staples Center signage will be replaced with the new name by June 2022.
What do you think about the name Crypto.com Arena? In your opinion, what’s been one of the worst stadium/arena names you’ve heard?
