Last night (9/21) was the second night of Blind Auditions on season 21 of The Voice. How did Blake Shelton do for Team Blake?
The night starts with 28-year-old Lana Scott singing “Hole In The Bottle” by Kelsea Ballerini. Lana points out in the pre-performance video that while she and her dad love Blake Shelton, she would also be excited to work with Kelly Clarkson. Lana considers herself a multi-genre artist like Kelly is. Amazingly both Blake and Kelly turn their chairs for Lana’s performance. Blake and Kelly get to arguing so intensely that John Legend and Ariana Grande get up and leave their chairs to go get a snack.
In the end Lana feels the pull of her country roots and makes her father happy by choosing Blake as her coach.
Hailey Green was part of the Blind Auditions in season 19 when she was 14-years-old. Now at the age of 15 she has returned as Blake challenged her to do a year ago. She worked on her voice and abilities and gained confidence in who she is as an artist. Hailey performed the song “Home” by Marc Broussard. It looked as though it was going to be another Blind Audition without a chair turn for her. At the last second Blake pushed his button!
Blake did not remember her from the previous audition. However, it seemed appropriate that Hailey wound up on Team Blake since he was the one who challenged her to improve herself and come back.
Blake ends week one of the Blind Auditions with four artists on Team Blake. Kelly Clarkson also was able to get four artists for Team Kelly. Team Legend and Team Ariana ended the week with five artists each. You can find out who is on each team here.
The Blind Auditions will continue Monday, September 27th starting at 7 p.m. central time (8 p.m. eastern time) on NBC.
