Last night (3/29) the Battle Rounds  began on season 20 of The Voice. Who did Blake Shelton choose to keep on Team Blake and did he use his “Steal” or “Save”?

First let me remind you that country music superstar duo Dan + Shay joined Team Blake this season as advisors for the Battle Rounds. You can see who the other coaches have as their advisors in the video below.

Second, Kelly Clarkson was not feeling well when it came time to tape the Battles. Show host Carson Daly shared that she tested negative for COVID-19, but would not be sitting in her chair for the Battles. Country music star (and former Team Kelly advisor) Kelsea Ballerini took over Kelly’s chair for the Battle Round performances.

Blake’s first pairing was Aaron Konzelman and Connor Christian. Blake gave them “Ain’t Livin’ Long Like This” by country music legend Waylon Jennings. Both artists do very well. The song is a bit more in Aaron’s wheelhouse and takes more work on Connor’s part to match up. Blake makes the choice to award the hard work Connor put in and kept him on Team Blake sending Aaron home.

Blake’s second pairing was Ethan Lively and Avery Roberson. Blake gave them James Otto’s “Just Got Started Lovin’ You.” The song was a good fit for both voices. Both singers did an excellent job. Blake even stated “That’s what ‘Steals’ are made for” during the applause following the performance. Blake chose to keep Ethan on Team Blake moving forward. Blake’s prediction came true as Kelsea Ballerini pressed the button to “Steal” Avery for Team Kelly.

The #VoiceBattles will continue on season 20 of The Voice Monday, April 5th starting at 7 p.m. central time (8 p.m. eastern time).
