Women’s History Month celebrates women, past and present, and their contributions to society.  For Thomas Rhett, one woman who has made innumerable contributions to his life is his wife Lauren.  Thomas is always inspired by his wife’s faith, her philanthropy, her patience and her willingness to always be honest with him when he needs it.  There was that one time Thomas came off stage after a show, and Lauren told him his singing during “Die A Happy Man” was flat.  But he admits, “She said that as a joke because most of the time after a show I always look at her and I always go, ‘What’d ya think?’  And like, that night, I knew that we killed it, like, it was just a good show. But I always wanna know her opinion, and she was like, ‘Oh, you were kind of flat.’ And then she started laughing. She was like, ‘Honey, it was great.’”

But one of this things Thomas loves about Lauren and values in her is her willingness to tell him the truth when he’s not great.  “There are sometimes, those shows, where we both feel it, where I’m not on or like something happened in the show where it just ruined me for the rest of the night,” says Thomas.  “And I kinda like start to just close my eyes and sing songs and hope the rest of the show goes well, and those are the nights where Lauren goes, ‘Honey, you can’t let those things get to you because most of the time people don’t know if your E string on your guitar was out of tune. Only you know that, and only you can get in your head on that stuff.’”

For Thomas who tends to be a worrier and someone who can get hung up on small things, he says, “It’s nice to have somebody to really kinda bring you back down to earth after a show.”

Speaking of shows, Thomas has booked his first three shows in over a year.  He’ll be playing May 6, 7 and 8 at the legendary Billy Bob’s Texas.  For tickets and more information, visit BillyBobsTexas.com.

Thomas Rhett’s latest single “What’s Your Country Song” hit #5 on the Billboard Country Airplay singles chart this week and still climbing. Listen for the song on Bloomington-Normal’s #1 Country, B104.

Who do you rely on to tell you the truth when most people won’t?
