Reba McEntire will be co-hosting the 54th CMA Awards with Darius Rucker. Reba admits that she has always had a competitive streak.

The iconic country music entertainer says that long before it was music awards she was competing for, she would do all she could to win against her brother, Pake.

“I love to win! When we were kids and we would be released from chores on the ranch Pake and I would run out of the house, saying ‘Anything you can do, I can do better.’ We’d throw rocks, we’d do push-ups, pull-ups, rope, ride, run a foot race! I’m very competitive! I just love to win, it’s just the fun of it.”

Reba says that during the 1990s she would use nominations on awards shows as a gauge for what she needed to better for her fans.

“After every awards show, if we didn’t get nominated, if we didn’t win … I’m talking ’90s, we were dead set, ‘What did we do wrong? What do we need to do better?’ It makes everybody give more, and that’s what we’re here for…to give more to our fans because they’re putting up their hard-earned money.”

Reba is not only the co-host for the upcoming awards show, she is also a nominee. She is nominated for CMA Musical Event of the Year for her collaboration with Thomas Rhett, Hillary Scott, Chris Tomlin and Keith Urban on the song “Be A Light.”

The CMA Awards Show will air November 11th at 7 PM CT (8 PM ET) on ABC.
