What a year 2020 has been. The pandemic has caused more than health issues, it’s also caused many businesses across the country to close their doors, and now the iconic Cheers replica bar in Boston has announced that they will be closing on August 30th after nearly 20 years in business.
The bar, which opened in 2001, is a replica of the original Bull & Finish Pub on Beacon Street that inspired the hit TV show that aired from 1982 to 1993. It’s a staples for tourists and visitors to get their picture taken in front of, and stop in for official Cheers merchandise, with a number of items from the show on display. Many patrons claim you feel like you are actually in the bar on the show when you visit.
According to new data, the pandemic has caused more than 15,000 restaurants to close their doors since July 10th, and we are very sad to see them all go.
The good news is the original Beacon Street Pub, also now named Cheers, will stay open.
