A 5.1 magnitude earthquake hit Sparta, North Carolina along the Virginia border on Sunday morning, with it’s epicenter in Allegheny County. A 5.3 magnitude quake is considerate moderate.
The quake, the strongest to shake North Carolina since 1926, could be felt in South Carolina and as far as 300 miles south near Atlanta, Georgia, according to CNN.
The Sparta area sits on three seismic zones. Areas of Tennessee also reported some tremors last weekend.
