As government officials continue to dismiss internet talk of martial law, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has activated the state National Guard to assist with the coronavirus pandemic.

In an announcement posted on Facebook Tuesday evening (seen below), a rep for the Illinois National Guard says about 60 service members will be called up for the assignment.

Pritzker will use the National Guard to “assist with anticipated need for logistical support and medical staffing,” according to the Facebook post.

Is this the kind of thing you’d imagine the National Guard would be used for? Are you worried that we’ll all be forced to stay inside while soldiers patrol the streets?
