Do You Know What is in This Picture?

This is the first picture of its kind in the highest resolution ever taken.

IT IS THE SUN!

Thanks to astronomers in Hawaii, we now have the clearest and closest picture of the sun ever.

While the picture looks like boiling bits of gold, the photo is showing of “Texas-sized” plasma cells coming to the surface as other cells cool down and sink to the bottom. Not a bad close up from 93 million miles away.

Scientists hope these close ups will them understand how solar winds and the sun’s outer atmosphere (which sits at over one million degrees) affect our own planet’s atmosphere. Solar weather can disrupt our planet’s radio communications, like in the case of Hurricane Irma. The weather in space disrupted emergency communications for eight hours.
