The Washington Nationals won their first ever World Series Championship and appear to have broken the trophy during the celebration.
The Nationals beat the Houston Astros in the 2019 World Series four games to three. Following their come-from-behind 6-2 win in game seven, they received the trophy (video above).
At some point during the celebration the trophy apparently took some damage.
The Nationals relief pitcher Sean Doolittle shared the following picture of the trophy. If you look some of the flags are bent and others are completely missing.
World Series trophy review:
– v shiny
– hard to drink from (we tried)
– impossible to eat cereal out of
– heavier than it looks
– can be worn like a hat
– still in one piece (barely)
– says 2019 World Champions on it

The damage to the trophy also is visible in the picture of Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer and his wife, Erica, holding it on the flight back home she posted.

I guess we need to cut the Nationals a little slack on this. After all, it is the first time they ever won one of these trophies. Perhaps, if they win another one, they will take better care of it.
