Deer season is open in one form or another all across the country. This is a reminder to my fellow hunting enthusiasts to be careful! A hunter in Arkansas died after the deer he shot got back up and attacked him.

66-year-old Thomas Alexander shot a buck while hunting with a muzzle-loader. When he went to inspect his kill, the deer got up and began attacking him.

Alexander suffered puncture wounds and was transported to a hospital where he later died.

Experts recommend that hunters wait at least 30 minutes after shooting a deer before approaching it, in case the shot was not fatal.

This is just a reminder that you need to be careful when hunting. Be aware of where others may be around you. Be careful in ground blinds and tree stands. Be careful when approaching your harvested animal. Be careful getting that animal out of the field.

Bottom line is be careful every minute you are hunting. The best “trophy” you can bring home is YOU!
