John Travolta doesn’t have the greatest track record when it comes to awards shows, and he knows it.
For those of you that don’t remember, at the Oscars in 2015, John introduced and mispronounced the super talented, Tony Award winning actress/singer Idina Menzel as “Adele Dazeem”, who was at her height at the time for singing Frozen’s hit “Let It Go”.
He knows he’s not great at reading words, which is why while presenting the Video of the Year award with Queen Latifah at Monday night’s MTV Video Music Awards Travolta said, “I shouldn’t do this because I’ll just mispronounce s**t and f**k it up,” before handing the envelope to her.
And while he didn’t mispronounce Taylor Swift’s name when she won, the internet couldn’t help but notice his flub when he tried to give the award to the Taylor Swift drag look-alike Jade Jollie, instead of Taylor. In his defense, from far away you could definitely mistake the 2, that’s how much they look alike, but she was like 4 feet from him. Maybe my dude just needs some glasses.
I think it’s funny, Taylor is probably still laughing, and John Travolta makes too much money to care.
