Does Netflix and Chill have a new meaning? Almost. Tesla just announced that drivers will be able to stream Netflix and YouTube in their vehicle “soon”. Well, isn’t that fancy?

In a tweet on Saturday, CEO Elon Musk wrote that the displays in cars will “soon” be able to stream YouTube and Netflix. He did not give an exact date but said the features could come as soon as August.

Don’t worry, video streaming will only work when the car is stopped, so you don’t have to worry about drivers streaming the latest season of “Stranger Things” or binging the final season of “Orange Is The New Black” on the way to work!

Here’s the catch…it is my understanding that Tesla won’t be able to roll out video streaming until regulators approve self-driving. Musk says he is certain that Tesla cars will be able to operate without a driver by the end of this year.

In an interview earlier this year, he said “I think we will be feature-complete full self-driving this year, meaning the car will be able to find you in a parking lot, pick you up, take you all the way to your destination without an intervention, this year.” He continued, “I would say that I am certain of that. That is not a question mark.”

All of that sounds crazy!

Elon Musk thinks streaming shows or movies in the car will be like “an old-school drive-in movie experience, but with much better sound.”

What do you think? Would you sit in your car to watch a movie?
