Today (5/24) the surprising news broke that Adam Levine would not be returning for season 17 of The Voice.
Just a few weeks ago it was revealed that the four season 16 coaches would be returning in the fall for season 17.

However, just a couple of days after season 16 has concluded that news has changed. Show host Carson Daly announced that Adam would be leaving the show adding, “Of course many viewers will miss watching his frenemy relationship with Blake Shelton. He’ll always be a cherished member of The Voice family, and of course we wish him nothing but the best.”
Blake reacted to the news being released this morning via his Twitter account…
Having a hard time wrapping my head around @adamlevine not being at @NBCTheVoice anymore. After 16 seasons that changed both of ours lives. I only found out about this yesterday and it hasn’t set in on me yet. Gonna miss working with that idiot.

Kelly Clarkson also posted on Twitter about the news…
Found out last night about @adamlevine leaving The Voice & while I get that he’s been doing the show 4 a while & wants to step away, it will be weird showing up 4 work & he’s not there 👀 To start an amazing show from the ground up is a big deal!

Returning to fill Adam’s spot in the coach’s chair will be Gwen Stefani. She was a coach for seasons seven, nine and twelve. Gwen and Blake are also in a serious relationship which could add a new dimension to the banter on the show.
Will Adam’s departure stop you from watching the show this fall? Do you think the rotating coaches makes the show fresh?
