Last Night (4/22) was the final night in the new “Cross Battles” round on season 16 of The Voice.

In this new twist for the award winning, hit TV singing competition one coach picks an artist from their team to perform. Then, that coach challenges another coach to a head-to-head competition. The challenged coach then picks an artist from their team to do the Cross Battle.

Blake Shelton chose to put Carter Lloyd Horne on the stage. He then challenged John Legend to the Cross Battle. John chose Jacob Maxwell for the battle. Watch Carter’s performance of “Way Down We Go” below.

Kelly Clarkson decided to put the first ever trio on The Voice up for a Cross Battle as she chose The Bundy’s to go on stage. She challenged Blake for the battle who chose Team Blake artist Andrew Sevener for the head-to-head competition. Watch Andrew perform “Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde” by Travis Tritt in the next video.

John Legend got a chance to choose and picked Shawn Sounds for a Cross Battle that he challenged Blake to. Blake chose Karly Moreno, an artist he stole from Adam Levine’s team in the Battle Rounds. Watch Karly perform “Down” below.

At the end of last night’s episode there were two artists who had not yet done the Cross Battles. Team Blake’s Gyth Rigdon and Team Kelly’s Abby Kasch did the final Cross Battle. Watch Gyth sing a song his coach Blake Shelton covered that was originally recorded by Conway Twitty called “Goodbye Time” below.

You can watch all of the other Cross Battle performances not posted in this blog at The Voice‘s YouTube channel here.

Tonight (4/23) we will find out the results of the live Cross Battles from last night. Kelly and John have their “Saves” remaining and Blake has a “Steal” he has not yet used. Beyond those three exceptions, the artist with the least votes in each pairing will have their time on the show end regardless of what team they are on. If all four of Blake’s artists win their respective battles, Team Blake will have made it through the Cross Battles completely intact.

The Voice Cross Battles Live Results show will be at a special time tonight starting at 8 PM central time (9 PM eastern time) on NBC.
