Keith Urban is getting set to release a new single titled “Never Comin Down.” The song will be the follow-up to his #1 single “Coming Home” featuring Julia Michaels. Both songs are on his current album Graffiti U available everywhere.
Keith recalls the day he wrote the song with Josh Kerr, James Abrahart and Shy Carter and what was going on when it all started.
“Upstairs was Josh Kerr, J Hart [aka James Abrahart] and Shy Carter,” Keith reminisces. “So, those three guys were mixing up some sort of various cocktail environment. [laughs] figuratively and literally upstairs.”
He then reveals how that scene launched what would become the song.
“There was just such a great thing happening up there,” Keith explains, “I had this drum beat that I had carried around for a bit, and I presented that, and we started building on that. It really started with a tribal rhythmic feel.”
You can feel the situation Keith shared when you hear the song. It really is an uplifting spirit groove that you can’t seem to avoid when you hear it.
Earlier this month Keith performed the song on the Today Show. You can watch the video of that performance of “Never Comin Down” by Keith Urban below.
