Darius Rucker came from the pop music world to country music. With that in mind, it might have taken an act of God to get his song “Straight To Hell” done in any other genre than country.

Darius included the song on his latest album When Was The Last Time. The song is not just a solo remake of the 1980s song from the rock group Drivin’ N’ Cryin’. It is a collaboration with three of the biggest names in country music; Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean and Lady Antebellum‘s Charles Kelley.

While getting two artists together in other genres of music happens more than occasionally for a song, getting four different acts (and their respective management and record labels) in agreement on a group project is pretty much unheard of in the pop music world.

However, in country music it is done quite often. Darius explains that in country music he believes it is the closeness of the people in the family that is country music.

“Country music is still a community of people who just wanna make music and love each other and really go out of their way to help each other musically,” he states. “Here in country music, you just call them up, and you say hey, I’m making a record.”
