Jason Aldean is ready to enjoy being at the 53rd ACM Awards show in Las Vegas, but he admits that being a nominee makes it more exciting for him.

The superstar country music singer-songwriter says that getting the recognition from the country music industry by being nominated is something special to him.

“I’m flattered every time we get nominated for those things because we don’t always get nominated for stuff,” Jason shares.

However, those nominations also give him something extra to enjoy at the show.

“It definitely makes it more exciting when you go to an award show, I will say that,” Jason admits, “[It’s] a lot more fun sittin’ out there watching the show when you’re … when you don’t know what’s coming.”

Jason is nominated this year for Male Vocalist of the Year which he has won three times (2013, 2014, 2015) and he is the reigning Entertainer of the Year which he has won for the past two years (2016, 2017). The Entertainer of the Year honor was one that he wanted to earn when he first started to chase his dreams of being a country music singer.

“Entertainer of the Year to me was a … that was a personal thing that I wanted. When I started in this business,” Jason admits. “Two things I think I wanted was like, ‘Man it would be cool to have a Platinum record on my wall, and it would be cool to win Entertainer of the Year. So that was just kinda like my personal thing.”

No matter what happens this Sunday for Jason at the ACM Awards, he has already achieved those two goals and then some. Not only has he won the Entertainer of the Year Award multiple times, he has SIX Platinum records on his wall. Two of those are actually DOUBLE-Platinum (Wide Open and Night Train) and one is QUADRUPLE-Platinum (My Kinda Party). Today Jason just released his eight studio album, Rearview Town, so there may be even more of those Platinum Records for his wall along with potentially more Entertainer of the Year trophies for him to find a spot for.

The 53rd ACM Awards Show is this Sunday, April 15th at 8/7 central on CBS.
