Singer-songwriter David Lee Murphy is about to release a new album that was co-produced by Kenny Chesney. Kenny and David Lee are long time friends and have worked together over the years. However, Kenny is also a fan of his friend.
“I think he’s the original hillbilly rock star,” Kenny states.
He goes on to explain the reason for his statement, “I don’t believe there’s a better singer-songwriter out there that has captured our imagination with all of his songs through so many different artists.”
As a songwriter David Lee’s credits include songs like “Big Green Tractor” by Jason Aldean, “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not” by Thompson Square, “The More I Drink” by Blake Shelton, “A Feelin’ Like That” by Gary Allan, “The Only Way I Know” by Jason Aldean with Luke Bryan and Eric Church and Kenny Chesney’s “Living In Fast Forward” to name just a handful.
David Lee has also written songs that he recorded himself like his hit songs “Out With A Bang,” “Party Crowd” and his anthem “Dust On A Bottle.” Kenny performed that anthem with David Lee in concert and included it on his #1 live album Live in No Shoes Nation last year. You can hear Kenny talk about the song and performance in the video below.
David Lee and Kenny’s duet “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright” is the debut single from the new album. That song is currently climbing the country radio airplay singles charts in the top 15 this week and can be heard on B104.
The album is called No Zip Code and Kenny co-produced it with Buddy Cannon. David Lee has songwriting credits on all 11 tracks on the album that is set to be released Friday, April 6th.
I received an advance copy of the album and I will say that is definitely one you should check out and seriously consider adding to your own collection.
