Country music singer-songwriter Brett Young has a new single coming out and he says he wants it “hurt people’s feelings.”
Brett has had three number one songs out of three released: “Sleep Without You” #1 on Mediabase/Country Aircheck in 2016, “In Case You Didn’t Know” #1 on Billboard and Mediabase/Country Aircheck May of 2017 and “Like I Loved You” #1 on Billboard and Mediabase/Country Aircheck to end 2017 and start 2018.
Brett is hoping to keep that string of chart toppers alive with his new single “Mercy.”
“I wrote ‘Mercy’ with Sean McConnell who’s one of my favorite writers and artists in Nashville,” Brett shares as he recalls how the song began in the writing session, “I was talking about a past relationship and I used the word mercy.”
He also admits that he has a desire that he has never had before, “I’ve never really had a song I’ve said this about before, but I almost kind of hope that this hurts people’s feelings a little bit, in the best way.”
You can check out an acoustic performance of the song “Mercy” by Brett Young in the video above and decide two things. First, does it hurt your feelings, in the best way? Second, do you think it will keep Brett’s string of #1 singles going? Let us know on our Facebook and/or Twitter pages.
