It was an incredible sight to see. Last night during the Vegas Golden Knight’s, the NHL’s new expansion team, home debut, the team held a truly incredible tribute to the first responders of the shooting on October 1st. In the video above, you will see that each member of the team as well as the head coach and general manager escorting those first responders on the ice.
The sellout crowd made the scene all the more incredible.
Following the introductions and the team held a 58 seconds of silence. One second for each of the victims. You could have heard a pin drop during the silence. It was emotional for me, just watching on TV as the victim’s names were displayed on the ice. I could only imagine what the fans in the building were experiencing.
I can’t watch this without getting goosebumps.
In a world where there are, many times, daily reminders of why we should lose faith in humanity, it is nice to see something like this that shows what we are truly capable of.
The Golden Knights would go on to win 5 – 2.
