Last Friday (10/6) Luke Bryan‘s 2017 Farm Tour made a stop in Illinois and he took a moment during the concert to remember the victims and all involved in the tragedy in Las Vegas.
In the video shared by a fan at the concert last Friday night, Luke starts out by stating that the fans in attendance at the concert are “hardcore as sh–.” The concert was scheduled to be at the Ayers Family Farm in Edinburg, IL. However, due to the recent rain here in central Illinois, the decision was made to move the concert to the Illinois State Fair grounds in Springfield, IL because of the muddy conditions at the farm location. Well, Luke points out in the video that because of the rain that day and even during the concert that night, where they held the concert turned into a muddy location anyway.
After praising the fans for showing up, despite the weather, Luke started talking about what he calls, “One of the worst moments of my life, and I’m sure a lot of you guy’s life. When we woke up Monday morning (10/2) and heard the news from Las Vegas.”
Luke explains to the crowd, “I want to remember those victims of such a horrible crime. I want to remember their families. I want to remember the country music artists that were involved in that night. I want to remember all of the first responders and the people that rushed in to help.”
He then states, “And I want to thank you guys for being so important in getting life back going by showing up tonight.”
With that the crowd began to chant “U-S-A” over and over for a short time.
Luke then says he wants to thank local and state law enforcement and firefighters, “because right now, they’re looking after us tonight right now.”
Luke then states, “I know this, we’re all a music family, a country music family and the devil attacked our way of life Sunday night.” He then asks the audience, “But, you know what beats the devil, right?”
Luke raises his hand and points toward the heavens and says, “This guy upstairs beats the devil all day long,” which is answered by cheers from the crowd.
Luke says, “I don’t want us to forget those victims y’all. They [were] just good people showin’ up to party to a country music show.”
He asks everybody to join him in a moment of silence to, “think about them and to think about what we can do to just be better.”
The audience that was cheering, chanting and singing to that part of the night joins Luke in nearly complete silence to remember the victims.
