Last night (9/25) The Voice Season 13 premiered with the first night of Blind Auditions. How many artists did Blake Shelton get for Team Blake?
Blake hit his button for a handful of artists. One of those artists was 48-year-old former NFL player Esera Tuaolo. Esera is a native of Honolulu, Hawaii who calls Minneapolis, Minnesota home currently. He sang his version of the song “Rise Up” by Andra Day. Esera’s rendition motivated new coach Jennifer Hudson to hit her button and Blake joined her later in the performance. The two coaches presented their cases to join their respective team, but in the end Esera chose to join Team Blake.
29-year-old Mitchell Lee calls Nashville home these days although he is originally from Columbia, South Carolina. He performed the song “Hold My Hand” by Hootie And The Blowfish. My opinion is that he actually sounded very similar to lead singer (and now solo country artist) Darius Rucker on the song. His performance was enough to motivate Adam Levine, Jennifer and Blake to all push their buttons in rapid succession. All three coaches fought hard for Mitchell. However, there must have been some connection with Blake because that is where he chose to go for his coach.
Adam and returning coach Miley Cyrus both also gained two artists each for their teams on night one of the Blind Auditions. The new coach did the best on night one of season 13 of The Voice as Jennifer ended the night with three artists on her team. You can find out what artists joined all the teams at the show’s official NBC website here.
Perhaps the performance of the night came from a singer that did not make the show. Dave Crosby performed the song “I Will Follow You Into The Dark” by Death Cab for Cutie. Adam, Blake and Miley all pressed their buttons. While they were getting to know Dave briefly they found out that he was the man who has viral videos with his 4-year-old daughter Claire Ryann singing with him. Since she was at the show with him the two performed together and Claire Ryann pretty much stole night one of The Voice Season 13. “Dad” chose Adam as his coach by the way.
Night two of The Voice Season 13 starts at 7 PM central time (8 PM eastern time) as the Blind Auditions continue on NBC TV.
