Garth Brooks was just in central Illinois for four concerts and his passion for performing is likely only matched by his passion for helping kids.

The Garth Brooks Teammates For Kids Foundation began in 1999 with the pledge of 67 Major League Baseball players ready to share their love and support to help kids. In the year since the foundation has added more than 4,300 professional athletes ready to lend their support to the foundation to help kids.

Those professional athletes come from baseball, football, basketball, soccer, rodeo, racing and hockey. With the Nashville Predators playing in the Stanley Cup finals, Garth was asked about the participation of the pro hockey players with the Teammates For Kids Foundation.

“These hockey players – the great thing I love to see about these kids is they’re just sweet, God-gifted, talented kids that want to help children get an even start,” he explains.

Garth is also proud that his wife, Trisha Yearwood also supports and participates with the foundation, “Miss Yearwood’s part of it. We have over four-thousand professional Teammates now. It’s very sweet, and we’re very lucky to have this opportunity to do something that’s hopefully good for the world’s future by investing in the world’s children.”

The foundation’s overhead costs are funded by privately, it can make the statement “100% of all money donated goes to the kids. That’s not the goal … it’s the rule!” That is a very powerful and incredible statement to be able to make!
