Last night (3/20) was the first night of the Battle Rounds on The Voice Season 12. How did Blake Shelton do with the help of Team Blake adviser Luke Bryan?

If you are new to The Voice, the Battle Rounds are where the coaches pair their team members together to perform a song. At the end of the performance the coach must choose one of the artists to remain on their team and the show. The other artist is either done on the show or one of the other coaches can “Steal” them to put them on their own team and keep them on the show. Each coach gets two “Steals” in this round of competition. If more than one coach hits their button for a “Steal” the contestant gets to choose which team they will join.

Let’s get to Blake Shelton’s pairings from last night with Team Blake.

Blake’s first pairing was Brennley Brown and Lauren Duski. Blake had these two aspiring country singers perform the recent #1 hit songBetter Man” by Little Big Town. Both artists did an amazing job on the vocals and performance. Blake made the tough decision to keep Lauren on his team moving forward. If you are a fan of Brennley, don’t get too bummed. Gwen Stefani hit her button to bring Brennley to Team Gwen and keep her on the show. Watch the battle performance below.

The second pairing for Team Blake on the show was Ashley Levin and Casi Joy. Blake paired the two singers with a classic country feel to their styles. He had them sing the song “How Blue” by Reba McEntire for their battle. It really was a pretty even match-up. Blake had another difficult decision to make and ultimately decided to move forward with Casi.

To prove how much both of these two artists deserved to remain on the show all three of the other coaches hit their buttons to “Steal” Brennley. After the pitches from all of the coaches as to why to join their respective teams, she chose to have Alicia Keys as her coach moving to the next round of competition on The Voice. Watch the performance from Ashley and Casi in the video below.

Alicia paired Felicia Temple and Quizz Swanigan for a Battle Round performance. The two sang the song “Titanium” by David Guetta featuring Sia. When all was said and done Alicia chose to keep Quizz on her team. Blake hit his button as Felicia was about to walk of the stage to “Steal” her for Team Blake. He said that her talent deserved to be on the show. Watch the Team Alicia battle below.
