Last night (2/28) was night two of the Blind Auditions on season 12 of The Voice. Blake Shelton got what I think was a surprise addition to Team Blake.
Blake, Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani and Alicia Keys all started the one-hour episode of The Voice with two artists each on their respective teams.
Among those hoping to turn a chair was 15-year-old California native Aliyah Moulden. She performed a jazz-soul-styled version of the iconic song “Hound Dog” originally recorded by Elvis Presley.
The potential in the vocals from this young girl finally motivated Blake to push his button with Alicia turning a short time later. At the last minute Gwen also pressed her button to give Aliyah three choices for her coach on the show.
It honestly seemed to me that it would be a two-way battle to win over the young singer between Alicia and Gwen with Alicia having the edge in my opinion. So, when Aliyah announced Blake as her choice as coach I was a little surprised. Watch her performance and the coaches pitches in the video below to see if you agree that the choice was a little bit of a surprise.
By the end of the show Blake, Adam and Gwen had each added a single artist to their teams during the night for a two-night total of three artists each. Alicia won the night last night adding two artists to her team for a two-night total of four artists on her team. You can see where each team stands on the official website of The Voice here.
This week will feature a special Thursday night episode of The Voice Season 12 starting at 7:00 PM central time (8:00 PM eastern time). Get a sneak peek at the third round of Blind Auditions in the video below.
