Maren Morris was brought to tears during a recent live concert performance.
The country music singer-songwriter had a big week. It started on Sunday (2/12) when she won the Grammy Award for Best Country Solo Performance for her song “My Church.” Later that week (2/16) she became the second biggest nominee for the 2017 ACM Awards with a total of six nominations. Keith Urban received the most nominations with a total of seven.
Maren was at an early stop on her own “HERO Tour” in Athens, GA at The Georgia Theatre to start this week on Sunday (2/19). Before performing “My Church” she says to the audience, “I really, truly never thought, in my whole damn life, I’d be saying ‘I have a Grammy for this next song.’ This song has meant so much to me because it’s capturing in three minutes the enthusiasm in this room. I’m going to take you to church on this last one.”
When she starts singing her #1, Grammy Award winning song the audience joins her singing along on every lyric. Near the end of the song the week she had paired with the enthusiasm of the audience singing her song back to her obviously causes Maren to be overcome with emotions. She steps back from the microphone while the audience keeps singing the song and has to wipe some tears from her eyes.
Congratulations Maren on well-deserved honors and get used to it because I have a feeling there are many more on the way for you in the years to come.
