This weekend we have the end of Daylight Saving Time. That got me wondering how many clocks does the average person have that still have to be manually set?
First of all, let’s quickly address the fact that (depending on what poll you look at) somewhere between 60 and 70 percent of Americans want to completely do away with Daylight Saving Time. However, since that has not happened yet … overnight Saturday (11/2) into Sunday (11/3) we here in Illinois will go back one hour at 2am.
I could not find an answer to my online query for “How many people have clocks that have to be manually set?” So, here is what I was able to figure out on my own.
The clocks that likely have to manually set that most of us have are in the car, on the stove and on the microwave. If you still use an alarm clock that is not your smart phone, that one would likely also be a manually set one.
We don’t have any clocks in our home other than the one on the microwave. We have smartwatches and smartphones for checking the time. And of course there are clocks in our trucks.
In an era when everything is being made “smart,” I can’t believe that they have not connected those clocks to Wi-Fi or smartphones to automatically adjust the time when needed.
